Utility of ideas in Module !!

What are values of knowing both ways?
  • Creative ventures expand the creator's way of knowing, way of experiencing. Learning each others' creative tools, methods, and reasons for depicting what is through art will lead to more creativity and better understanding between cultural groups, native and non-native.
  • Science can ground creative expression. Creative expression can enrich science and make it palatable and less departmentalized.
Utility of ideas:
  • My final project is morphing quickly into something smaller, closer to home, and more reasonable. I'm thinking of using the place I come from, it being the cultural historical homeland of the Hoonah Tlingits and historical legacy to many S.E. natives.
  • I'm thinking of native and non-native uses of native ways of knowing through science used to depict creative earth forces through art. Art can be the vehicle for teaching and communicating.
  • Differences become talking/creating points, rather than barriers.

  1. It would be interesting to find different ways of communicating; raising of eyebrows, (means yes in Central Yup'ik), shrugging of shoulders, (I don't know).

It would be interesting to see what non-verbal communication is used in other parts of Alaska.
